Who is George Crabtree?

George Crabtree hails originally from Newfoundland and as of his canonpoint a constable of in Toronto during the late Victorian and early Edwardian age, an affable and open-minded -perhaps too open-minded- man. While he lacks the deductive power of Detective Murdoch or the ability to put the fear of god into criminals like Inspector Brackenridge, Crabtree possesses an oddball ability to make connections that while tend to go off into woo-woo territory ends up surprisingly close to the truth of the matter - often solving the secondary cases of an episode all by himself, and shows surprising business savvy (another series revealed he retired early due to several investments paying off handsomely). Because of his unorthodox upbringing, George is one of the most sympathetic people in the entire series, and showing no judgment towards marginalized members of Victorian-era Canadian society.
